e-mail is extremely slow. I see "Not Responding". What can I do? SOLVED imap folder too large
It takes a very long time to process the e-mails when I click on them, whether to retrieve, delete, etc. Sometimes it is worse than other times. It usually says Mozilla Thunderbird not responding with the spinning thing.

I moved stuff from my IMAP mail to local storage. I also rebuilt the mail database. Thank you for your help. I very much appreciate it.

Sounds like you may have your Anti-Virus product scanning emails, so it is temporarilly interruptng thunderbird.
Suggest you stop your anti-virus from scanning Thunderbird folders or emails.
I would also suggest you create a backup of your profile and then compact all folders to remove all traces of previously deleted emails.
