My gmail account is connected to thunderbird. About a week ago, all emails older than 30 days started to disappear. At first, I thought they were being deleted but I could search and find them in all mail. They are just not staying in their folders and everyday I lose more emails that leave the folders they are assigned to. I tried deleting .msf files but it didn't help.

Please read and understand the Gmail support articles about labels and what the 'All Mail' label is about.

I tried everything in the Disappearing Mail page as well as Empty Folder page. The problem still persists. I used activity manager to see what is happening. Some of the folders briefly show the messages older than 30 days before they update. Then, all the ones 30 days older just disappear. At the same time, the activity manager tell me that those messages have been deleted. But, I can see them if I look them up.

Check the retention configuration also in your Gmail settings, i.e. on the server.
