I'm an iMac user that just switched over to Thunderbird. I can't any topics that address this issue. I see the "local folders" at the bottom of my email accounts. Is this where I can set up folders to move emails to my hard drive.

I just have emails I want to save locally and not clutter up my IMAP server area.

You got it. Local Folders is indeed the location provided for storage which is. local and independent of any servers.
