on 7-30-15 my Thunderbird server has disconnected, how can I fix this. no problems with my ISP email account
My computer is running windows 7 and Thunderbird is 38.1.0. The full error message is as follows Thunderbird Server allancarlson@frontier.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem. My Frontier yahoo account is working fine, passwords have not been changed. I have a significant amount of email in the Thunderbird account. if I need to reload Thunderbird will these be lost?
Thank you for you assistance.

I am puzzled. There is no "Thunderbird server". Thunderbird is an email client that connects you to servers operated by email providers. Mozilla/Thunderbird is not an email provider.
You appear to think you have another account, apart from the yahoo/frontier one.
I doubt that reloading Thunderbird will help you. The settings, and messages, are stored separately in its profile and will be unaffected by re-installation of the program itself.

Frontier is having problems in certain areas. Have you called them? https://downdetector.com/status/frontier
Modified
OK my description of the how Thunderbird works is not correct. but is there a way that I can get Thunderbird to reconnect to my Frontier email account. I have been using Thunderbird for over a year and I like it.
I am back, I created a new account within the existing Thunderbird mail program using the same email address and password. the new account is working. My next problem is that I have an account that needs to be deleted. how do I do this without deleting the new account info
Tools|Account Settings
Select your new account.
Down at the bottom of the window, Account Actions.
Click this, set the new account as the default.
Now you can select the old account. and use the option under Account Actions to remove it.

I am piggy-backing on this thread.
When I try to start Thunderbird all I get is a screen with a green wheel spinning. No error message, etc. (see the attached screenshot). I tried backing things up with Moz but that failed. (I was able to export contacts, tho). I don't know what the problem is nor how to fix it. I wonder if I can uninstall and reinstall T/B without losing my emails, contacts, etc.
Thank you
