I recently updated to 39.0 (Windows 7). Now some of my tabs' names are underlined. When a tab appears underlined, I cannot close it. When I have a lot of such tabs, I restart and then the underlining goes away and I can close the tabs.

As time goes on, more and more tabs become underlined (and uncloseable).

Do you have any tab related extensions that could be protecting these tabs?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
