Hi all, for some reason that I'm not aware of, when opening a new email page to write an email, the contacts sidebar now appears with "All Address Books" as default instead of the "Personal Address Book" which used to appear. I have tried looking through all options but cannot find a way to return this back to the way it was! Also, a similar thing happens when first opening Thunderbird. Upon clicking "Address Book" instead of the "Personal Address Book" coming up as default, there is now "Collected Addresses". I presume these two changes are related as they both appeared around the same time.

Thanks. Lazza.

Chosen solution

looking at bug 1142705 it appears a patch has been accepted and is due to be added to the ESR branch. That means it will appear in one of the next couple of "Security and stability" updates

It is a bug in the new version. They claim to be working on it.

Hi Airmail and others,

I'm just revisiting this forum as I'd like to know if there is a solution to the above query yet?

Thanks, Lazza.

Not a new bug at all, because already submitted on June 20 2015 - see [address book for contacts sidebar in Thunderbird 38 (bug 1142705)] - and in the last month for one or the other reason archived without being solved.

We got promise after promise in that thread and today we received yet another upgrade without a solution to the problem.

I do not quickly get pissed, especialy when it concerns volunteers that otherwise do realy great work, but because of the archive action and yet another update without a solution I can assure you that now I AM !

Lets see, the forum auto archives threads after 6 months. Done deal. The last comment on the Bug speaks of 38.5. which was released on the 24th according to my email history.

I stopped posting to your last thread because of the rude and demanding way folk there carried on and really your hijacking someone else's query is rude in the extreme. Instead of asking a question you spam three people on a thread that is solved. to demand answers that are available at the click of a link.

If your not happy with the solution in 36.5, I suggest you file a bug for yourself as the developers are done with the issue. If you are not using 38.5 then there will be no fix until V43.. That to is very clear from the bug.

But I am done reading the bug and copying what if says for you. I suggest you read it yourself.

The rude one was - in my opinion - you (but anyone interested can read it an decide for themselves).

I àm using 38.5 and my comment wàs about 38.5 and all the other versions before that in which the problem was going to be solved, but never was.

I wish you merry nagging, Regards, Geert-Emo
