Why is Bing, not Firefox, the default browser in Thunderbird?
The answer "set default browser in Firefox" doesn't fix the problem. Bing is default for Internet Explorer which I don't use and gave up trying to change, but it is in Firefox. I'll try again, but it's not even an option - nor is Chrome. Secondly, can I mark email addresses that I know are NEVER spam, so an email from family and friends isn't marked spam. Thunderbird seems to be suspicious of email that contains a chart? Why is that? Other email from the same person isn't marked spam, so is it this content? Third, why is it so difficult to find an email address to deal with questions. "Contact us" often leads to the "join Mozilla" page, rather than any help. Lastly, the page of Mozilla Canada communities, Toronto, BC, and Quebec (you do know the first is a city and the others are provinces, right? Ontario should be first even though Toronto thinks it's the centre of the universe) Anyway, none of these links go anywhere. Choosing US sites didn't get as far as to list cities or even states.

I'll take the first question. I think Thunderbird displays search results internally without using a browser. Is that what you're seeing?
In the column to the left of search results, there should be a bar listing some other search engine choices. You can click one you prefer to Bing, then click the heart icon at the bottom of that bar to make it your new default.
If your preferred search engine isn't listed, you can add it. This involves several steps. I posted the steps for DuckDuckGo in the following thread if, by coincidence, you want to use that one. Otherwise, it's useful only for general reference.

1. You can find more info on why Bing has become the default search engine in Thunderbird in bug 731590. However and as explained in the Open Search article, you could add Google to the list of Open search providers by using an appropriate add-on mentioned there.
2. If you check Account settings and select Junk in the left panel, there is an option to never mark messages as junk if the sender is in your Personal address book or Collected addresses, but you might have found that already. As for suspicous attachments, you should be able to set up handling of those in Options - Attachments panel.
3. If, like any other company or organzation, email addresses were provided for giving support, the mail boxes would be loaded with both serious and other questions and spam, you will probably understand. Also, most of the questions are already addressed in support articles or the forum, so that’s why users should be directed to them before they can ask a question after all, like you did.
4. What you are probably referring to is broken links on www.mozillacanada.org mentioning the Toronto (a city in Ontario allright, but the community is just called that way), BC and Quebec communities, and there is an existing bug on that issue. Admitted, the bug was filed a while ago, but these things can happen. Thank you for mentioning it, we’ll try to speed up fixing it anyway, and in the meantime you can use these links for Toronto, BC or Quebec.
