When I hit the + key for a new page, all my widgets are gone. All my sites are no longer listed. How can I re-install?

I changed my search engine to Norton. Now when I click on tab for a new page it comes up with Norton search and I no longer have my widgets with my sites. I have deleted the search and have tried everything to get the widgets of my favorite sites back on when I hit the "+" sign for a new page.

Check and see your current newtab setting:

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.newtab.url This tells Firefox what to show when a new tab is opened. If you want, right click and select Modify. You can change the setting to;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.

The same instructions are used for the new window setting, listed as browser.startup.homepage.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Fred, Thank you, thank you. Appreciate your help. Never would have gotten this otherwise. Printed off and saved instructions, just in case it happens again.

Glad to help. Please note, some programs, like installers (and others), are known to change user settings. Be careful when using them.
