How can I see the name of the URL before I jump to it. The message in the gray bar says "Firefox prevented the web page from redirecting to another page". I don't have one in front of me but I think the button at the end says "allow". Usually when I'm downloading I have to allow the redirect or the download window won't open. There are times when the redirect doesn't seem to go anywhere. The new page looks just like the original. In some of the questions I read the change was dramatic. Those questions I read in the forum were about turning off redirect, but since FF went to the trouble of creating an option I have to believe there's a reason. On Wikipedia I read but don't entirely understand all the reasons for redirection, but I saw enough to realize that turning it off is not for me a good idea. I imagine that if FF is about to send me to the new page then it knows what the URL is. It doesn't know what I'll encounter there, but it knows the URL "name". That is to say "www.bad site.com" or "www.minor change to preserve bookmarks.com". So how do I see what the name of the site is before I allow the jump to it.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for re-direct cleaners.

Some links re-direct for whatever reason. Sometimes it's because of ad/mal-ware on the net, or the web site. Other times it's because the old page was replaced.

Why are you still using that old Firefox 29 version?

First FredMcD; thank for the suggestion. I'll follow up.

I long to get back to I think it was version 25 or older. Session saver, Buttons where I could find them, tabs that open adjacent.
I was tired and stupidly I clicked a link in an email after I had shut down FF. It opened FF to a new tab ( "my new session" ). It was very fast! A feature FF braggs about. I had saved about 100 tabs when I closed FF. I forgot that in less than a minute sessionstore.js would pop up save session tab and start to reload my saved tabs. When I saw the new tab I panicked and shut down FF. Well, FF had saved all my tabs to sessionstore.bak when the link in the email opened FF. Not knowing this I opened FF up to find out what I could do to get my tabs back and sessionstore.js with one tab became sessionstore.bak. I lost my only chance. So they said history. There were hundreds of tabs from eBay that were defunct and as I opened them they were added to the history like a new tab. It was like someone tearing a page they had referred back to out of the book they were reading and adding it to the end of the book. After awhile it was so confusing I lost my mind. Then it was open all tabs. That would have been thousands. All I could think of was my wonderful Session Saver where I had saved several sessions from the days before. An elegant way to undo my mistake.
When I first encountered open tab adjacent I hated it. Then i grew to love it. What did the new FF do. Eliminated it.
They took away the buttons. Now I have to search for things that were a click away. FF opened up looking like Google Chrome. So hated that someone created FF classic. But that didn't restore everything. Making FF look like Chrome was like taking a Ferrari and welding a chrome box on it and then gutting it. Google should be chasing FF, not the other way around. When you have the best keep it. There's more, but know you know why I dread what else FF might take away. I'm all for security updates but the face of FF didn't need a lift. Someone who wanted a different look could have downloaded an add-on ( a new skin ).

FredMcD; re-direct cleaners. Nothing there. I'm surprised that there is no option in FF to view the address.

If you have tabs you don't want to lose, create a folder in the Bookmarks Manager and save them there.

Many of us are using; Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) {web link} Restore squared tabs, appmenu, add-ons bar, small button view and more on Australis UI (Windows/MacOSX/Linux + Fx 29+).

This will restore many of the things the last upgrades took away.
