Hello Fox'ters. Any idea how do I stop, "media auto play" from operating?

When doing a search, and finding a page that interests me, I open it, then, if there is a video or audio file on the page, it begins to play!

IMO, it would be better, to, show the page, "with out" any media playing, allowing the user the choice, of playing it or not!

I has now come to the point, when I open a page, and some media begins, I CLOSE the page before the media begins!

So in "fact", having this auto-play on, is actually pushing people away from those sites! HHmmmm... Is this what you want???

Pllleeeeesssssseeeeeeee HELP

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Firefox 42 will show an icon on the right end of the tab if audio is playing on the tab.

You can consider to set this pref to false on the about:config page

  • media.autoplay.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
