Is this a gmail or outlook.com server ?

Some server such as those named above automatically keep a copy of messages sent in the 'Sent' folder without you having to set it up, so if your Account Settings > Copies & Folders settings also say keep a copy in Sent folder then you end up with two copies.

Perform a test: 'Tools' > 'Account Settings' > 'Copies & Folders' for mail account Or right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' then select 'Copies & Folders' for mail account

  • Uncheck 'Place a copy in'

All the sent folder options will go greyed out.

  • click on 'OK'

Now send a test email to see if it is saved only once in Sent folder.
