The Firefox page notifying the updates to make says install all updates before restarting the browser, but the Java page (one of the plug-ins I need to update) says restart the browser after installation and test the update. Which is correct?

Unless you are actively using Java on a page in Firefox at the time you install the updated Java plugin, there's no need to exit Firefox in order to do the update, and as long as Java can do its update, there's no need to restart the browser right away.

(I updated on Windows 7 earlier today, and still haven't restarted, but the Add-ons page shows I have the new version.)
