I keep selecting another search engine (such as amazon) whenever I try to search something on google. It's annoying. I click on the search bar, move the cursor a little bit and It's accidentally hovering on another search engine.

See how the image show amazon icon highlighted? That's because I accidentally moved my mouse over it and now it will search amazon instead of searching google

As you are making the selection, wait a moment before pressing Enter.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

That is a know issue with the search bar. If the mouse pointer is in the way and you move the pointer slightly then you can select another search engine. You can consider to use a keyboard shortcut to go to the search bar or possibly move the search bar to the "3-bar" menu button drop-down list. The drop down list will still open with the search bar having focus if you use the shortcut key (Ctrl+K) in such a case. Otherwise you would have to remember to move the mouse pointer out of the way before starting to type. I move the sidebar to the "3-bar" menu button drop-down list just below the zoom buttons to have a longer location/address bar and see more of the URL.
