Just recently (after many, many years of trouble-free use of Thunderbird on a Mac), both my menu bar and close/minimize/expand buttons disappear from my Thunderbird app after I open a search window (to search for particular emails). The only way I can then switch from the search close out the app and any of its components is by expanding to a comprehensive view of all the apps on the desktop and then clicking back on to the main window. And the only way to close the app and its windows is to use the "force-quit" feature of the Mac OS.

Solutions?
