to many spam emails in 'inbox'

We receivce to many spam emails in our inbox. We have got a spam filter but still there are to many spam emails in our inbox. Is there a way we can solve this problem?

Your first line of defense should be your email provider's spam filter on their server, assuming your email provider offers that. Login to your account via webmail and verify the settings on the server.
Then only what slips through on the server can be handled by Thunderbird junk mail controls. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls
