still cant delete emails after deleting trash and trash msf
I cant delete my emails even after deleting trash msf. I cant delete trash file as it wont let me. says I need permission? I would like to do a complete reinstall of thunderbird but when I do that all the messages are still there. How do I delete the whole thing so its a new install with no messages in it at all?

Thunderbird separates the program installation from the profile. All your data is in the profile, so re-installing the application is a complete waste of time. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb

Backup your profile before doing anything else.
Then use profile manager to delete your profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles
I'm not sure why you're so desperate to start from scratch. But if this is what you want to do, go for it.

The reason I want to do a clean install is because I have done everything that I can to fix the situation and nothing has worked. I cant delete my emails no matter what I do. Not from inbox, trash, sent, or any other folder I have. I have tried all the solutions I have found on support but still cant delete anything. I'm not sure what other option I have apart from a clean install?

I've tried deleting both the trash files. I have compacted the folders. I have made another trash file with a different name. All to no avail. I still cant delete any of my emails. Cant delete them from any other folder either.

One of the solutions in support was to make another trash folder with a different name. I tried that before I tried anything else.
Yes I followed the instructions. It didn't work either.
I figured after doing all of that to no avail a clean install was my only option which I have done.
