I tried sending an e-mail with a 5 Mb PDF attachment, and Thunderbird gave error msg something like "The folder Sent is full, and can't hold any more messages. To make room for more messages, delete any old or unwanted mail and compact the folder." I found a file called "Sent.msf" that is large: 4,287,140,805 bytes (I think). Is that the file I'm supposed to compress? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks for any help.

Chosen solution

Right click the folder and select compact. Right click it again and select properties. Size still huge?

Open your send folder and delete Some sent mail... or archive it. http://en.flossmanuals.net/thunderbird/archiving-messages/

Then right click the folder, select compact again to finally see the deleted mail off.
