Thunderbird is locking up every time it downloads new orders and moves orders to Junk
Every time Thunderbird downloads new orders, and more specifically moves orders into the junk folder or upon starting up Thunderbird, the software always locks up for about a minute and a Half. Once the process has finished it returns to normal. I have done some searching and can not find anything related to this topic. Any idea why it would lock up during that process?
You can imagine how annoying this is when you are writing emails and it happens every 15-20 minutes.
This started happening about 1-2 weeks ago. I have not made any changes to the junk folder location. Here are a few of my current settings.
Disk Space: Compact all folders when it saves 1MB (as recommend on the forums) Destination: move New Junk to "Junk Folder" Automatically Deleting Junk Mail older then 10 Days. (to try and solve the problem, I cleaned out my Junk folder, no change) Check for new messages every 5 Minutes and on Startup.
Thank you for your assistance. GB

If you are using an Anti-virus product to scan all incoming mail then the Anti-Virus program may interrupt the process for a short period whilst it scans. Suggest you stop the Anti-Virus scanning the incoming mail and see if this improves the situation. I would also suggest you do not allow AV product to scan Thunderbird folders on startup.
Hi Toad, Thanks for getting back to me.
I checked my Anti-Virus and it is not enabled at this time. There is no AV running on the folder either, so it's neither of those. I am double checking there is nothing else running on the file or service.
Any other thoughts as to what could be causing it?
If you are not using a downloaded AV product then check the default one which came with 'Windows OS' is not interfering.
Other things which can slow down are other products checking for updates such as 'Windows', AV, Adobe, Java, etc. Here is a link with some additional info to check out:
