I can't get my emails from my old Thunderbird account with my new email account

more options

I just updated to Windows 10, had some problems, had to reset my computer to original settings. So my Thunderbird account that I had was erased. When I got Windows 10 going, I opened a new Thunderbird account so I could continue getting emails and hopefully be able to retrieve my old emails that were in the system with my old account. For some reason the new Thunderbird account will not access my old emails in the system. There must be some way to connect my new account with my old account so I can retrieve my old emails.

There is no such thing as a 'Thunderbird account'. You've set up an account with an email provider, e.g. Gmail or Yahoo. You told Thunderbird to retrieve/send mail for that account from/to your email provider's server.

I can only guess that you erased your Thunderbird profile when messing with Win10. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

See above.

For some reason the new Thunderbird account will not access my old emails in the system.

Before you started messing with it, was your account set up as a POP or IMAP account?

Did you create a backup of your Thunderbird profile?
