Can't add a bookmarked site to my New Tab suggested sites.
Some months ago I unpinned Facebook from my suggested sites. Now I'd like to re-add it, but every time I try to drag it into position from my bookmarks, it simply disappears. The steps discussed in "Customize the New Tab page" on Mozilla Support are not working for me.

I can assure you that 48.0.2 was released yesterday and you can confirm that from the official release notes. However, it appears that there may be an issue with the updating service at the moment because I am using 48.0.1 and have not yet been prompted to update.
If the issue is now gone, it's possible that Safe Mode reset a system setting back to the default and that repaired the issue. I'm very glad to hear that the issue is gone now.
And I'd like to apologize if my tone sounds patronizing because that is not my intended tone.

You are running an outdated version of Firefox. Please try updating to the current version of Firefox.
When you drag it into the new tab page, it should automatically pin the tile, so you are not required to click the pin button. Doing so will result in the removal of the tile.
If, after updating, you are still unable to pin the bookmark tile, please try doing so while in Firefox Safe Mode.
Hmm. That's odd you should say I have an outdated version, because Firefox tells me it's the most recent one.
Starting in Safe Mode seems to have done the trick.
The latest version was released on August 24 and is version 48.0.2. Your support details collected from this website show that you are running 47.0.
If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode, then you likely have an add-on installed on your browser which is causing this issue.
Oooooooh. You must be a wizard then, because when I go to Mozilla and check for updates, it tells me I have the latest version. So... Mozilla tells you stuff it won't tell me? Hmm. Rethinking that whole get-Chrome thing now.
If you're going to do this as a career, maybe you might consider not being so patronizing.
Incidentally, am no longer running in Safe Mode. I added FB to my New Tab in Safe Mode, closed it, and restarted Firefox in normal mode. No problems.
Could it be *possible* that between the time that I first posted my question and the time that I tried Safe Mode, my laptop might have installed an update? So perhaps the earlier version was causing problems over several weeks, hmm, even though I refreshed Firefox during that time? Okay then.
