Imediately when running install, get message "cannot create temp folder Archive". What folder is missing?
I have used many version of thunderbird for years on XP and Win7 platforms, but I am now build a windows 10 Tower PC and want to install thunderbird. Firefox is up and running OK. After saving the download, then clicking on the downloaded file, I immediately get an error message block with "7-Zip" im top left corner, an "X" in top right, across the middle a message "can not create temp folder archive" and finally a "OK" box in bottom right. What is it trying to create, where?
Note - I have "relocated" my c:\users\Ray White\..... to d:\users-D\Ray White\.... I do not know if this has a bearing on the subject. Ray White ray@kangal.co.uk

What exactly did you download and from where?
I used Firefox to access your web site at HTTPS://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/thunderbird/ And then clicked on the green Free Download box.
Could only SAVE the file (no RUN) option.
Setup 45.3.0.exe was downloaded size 33.2MB
Double clicked on this entry and window as described above appears almost immediately .
Just updated Windows 10 to the new anniversary release and repeated the download again, unfortunately with the same result.
I'd expect to see an UAC prompt when running the installer. Do you get one?
The error box appeared immediately without any prompts or other messages. UAC prompt - what does this look like, but I never got any prompts.
I guess it is at the start of the UNPACK. Not sure what product was used to create the self extracting EXE. Is it compactable with whatever is contained as default in Window10? I do not have any third party ZIP or RAR software installed.
Is there any other recommended way of unpacking the downloaded file without executing the EXE file.

Thanks Christ1 for your help - your last reply gave me the clue to a successfully install.
My one and only user account is set up as an administrator and this has always been enought to complete many installs both in this window10 environment and all previous XP, win7 and win8.
However when selecting the download and run as "Run as Administrator" from the small menu from a right click on entry, it all ran fine and installed OK.
Again Thanks .... Ray White
