After "refresh" my regular sites disappeared. Not even in trash!

I had lost two of my regular inputs long ago, but not until this recent refresh did I realize that was the reason. I have gone into Cookie Manager... over and over... to try to re-institute the sites, but it never never works! One site is a regular order source, which also alerts me of sales. For the latest one, I searched for its name to connect, and it is not even in my trash! Should be dozens of them in there. Refresh wiped my system clean. Complete enema! (Where's the colonoscopy??) HOW can I get these things back? I'll NEVER refresh again!!!! Patti Padgett

I think you mean you lost the bookmarks.

Restore Bookmark Backups

To open the Bookmarks Manager, press the Alt or F10 key bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.

The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTHya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4 In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created, 1424 = number of entries.

If there is a problem, Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

The "refresh" only wiped those two sources. Not sure why nothing else went away (that I've found yet). They email me regularly and I access their sites by clicking on their email. Those are what is missing... any trace AT ALL of them. AND I NO LONGER RECEIVE ANYTHING FROM THEM. And I can't resubscribe because they say I'm already subscribed!! Guess I should have bookmarked them... but now my bookmark icon for bookmarking up at the short control line upper right. is missing, and I can't get it to hop up there. I'll never refresh again!!

Are we talking about bookmarks or emails? Are you using Thunderbird?

but now my bookmark icon for bookmarking up at the short control line upper right. is missing

Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but some icons are locked in place.

There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.
