I am able to access my iCloud mail on the internet & in Mail program. But now I get 'Login to server imap.mail.me.com failed.' when I use my iCloud account. My other email account is fine & I am sending and receiving with no problem. This is an inconvenience obviously, but I am able to use other programs so it is not the end of the world. However, I am unable to access sent items and really need to. I have checked all of the settings which are per iCloud instructions and my password has not changed. I have had this problem for a few weeks now.

So, it turns out that Apple applied two step verification security to my account. I have now turned it off and my mail is working as it should.
