If I download and install Thunderbird, how do I transfer content from folders I have already created?
I just learned, much to my dismay, that there is no way to send group emails using Outlook.com. Apparently I need Outlook Exchange in order to do that, which I am not interested in using. So i want to transfer my Outlook.com (actually it's Hotmail.com) account to Thunderbird.
I can do the install and migration, and in fact I think I can figure out how to import my contacts. But what about the hundreds of emails that I have saved in folders that I have created? Is there a way to create those saved folders in Thunderbird and transfer the saved emails into them?
Chosen solution
If the protocol used on both is IMAP. Thunderbird default to IMAP for the live/msn/hotmail/outlook.com accounts. Choosing to use pop will be quite problematical.

You configure your outlook.com account on Thunderbird and all folders in in the account will automatically synchronize on Thunderbird.
Microsoft have migrated all hotmail.com accounts to outlook.com. There is no practical difference between the two domain names as far as Thunderbird is concerned.
Thank you. If I install Thunderbird on two different PCs, will they sync so that I can read the same emails on both machines?

Thanks again Matt. In appreciation of your assistance, and whatever help I will receive in the future (and at some point hopefully offer) I made a donation to Mozilla.
