Changing servers from Shaw to Telus
We are changing internet servers on Feb 1st. Can we maintain out Thunderbird just by changing our IP address?
Chosen solution
Before you discontinue your Shaw service, copy any messages you wish to save from the Shaw folders (Inbox, Sent etc.) to a folder created under Local Folders. When your Telus service is started, add your Telus account from File/New/Existing Account. Settings are given here (for Windows Live Mail).
Once the Telus account is working, open Tools/Account Settings, select the Telus account in the left pane, then Account Actions/Set as Default (if the Shaw account is still present). Then, select the Shaw account, Account Actions/Remove Account.

Thunderbird is email client software running on your computer. Email does not refer to IP addresses so I have no idea what you are asking.
At the present time Thunderbird e-mail is being delivered through my internet provider Shaw Pop110. Next week I am cancelling Shaw and signing on with Telus. This will change my e-mail address. I believe this move will require me to change my Thunderbird account info so it can interface with my new provider and new e-address. What do I need to know to facilitate this change so there is smooth transition?
