I have been using Firefox for months with no problems. All of a sudden, I got a pop up that said my computer is infected with a "Zeus" virus. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled, and also ran a Norton quick scan, to no avail. The background on the pop up is all porn pics, help!!!

Whenever you get a message / popup like that;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS OR ANY PHONE NUMBERS ! !

Such messages are only Spam that could lead you to Fake Support. Not only can they damage or hack your system, they charge you to do so.

Hi, popups of that type are often fake and hope that you will click on a link - WHICH YOU SHOULD NEVER DO, because that could actually infect you with something you didn't have before! If you didn't click on anything it's unlikely to have infected you.

If on the other hand, you are sure the popup was a genuine warning from your own antivirus, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Thank you, I am very computer-savvy so know enough never to click on these. I uninstalled Firefox, then restarted my computer and re-installed the software and so far all is ok.
