I can no longer send any emails, it just comes up with timed out contacting smtp server. I tried clearing the saved password, but on sending an email it never prompts to enter the password.

This all seems to have happened since the update to 52.2.1 on 27 June, I definitely could send an email on 23 June.

If it worked before the update, it's very likely you have a firewall or security program that needs to be reset to allow TB to send mail.

I've tried disabling the firewall and still cannot send emails.

I can receive emails (from a different POP3 server) but cannot send emails.

To rule out all 3rd-party programs, start in Windows safe mode with networking (Shift+Restart).

I think the reason for the failure is that the smtp server I was using has been shutdown (it was orangehome.co.uk), as I was only using it for outgoing email I didn't receive any notice that it was being decommissioned :(

Thanks for your help anyway
