What do you mean by "save"?

Can you view the embedded pictures and read the text in Thunderbird? What else do you want to do with the message?

The usual way to make your own copy of an embedded image would be to right-click it and select an option from the pop-up menu.

Embedded pictures such as the one shown here do not display.
