Followed instructions for creating email attached to comcast.net. Using IMAP, port 995, SSL/TSL, password-autodetect (per instructions). Retest-- "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account". Email address and password work when going to email via Chrome.

First question. Have to established a new, working email address with Comcast? If not, do that.

How are you trying to add this Comcast address to Thunderbird? I just added one to Thunderbird and did not have to specify ports. From the menu bar I selected File-New-Existing Mail Account A dialog box opened and I named the account. You get to pick the name. I entered the email address and password and clicked continue. A new window opened where you select POP or IMAP and click Done.

If your menu bar is hidden press the alt key to make it appear.

If using the AppMenu button it is under New Message-Existing Mail Account for some unexplained reason.
