I am using this method to test certain images, some of the emails are delivered, some are not. Some of the emails go straight to trash, some are simply not delivered, but disappear into cyberspace. Thanks.

Thunderbird does not handle them any different to other emails. But providers however are a different story. Google for instance simply hide them away in the belief you do not need to see what you sent yourself.
