My email address is valid but email is returned. What should I do?

"The confirmation email we sent to n*******@****.** was returned and we’ve locked your account to protect your Firefox data."

I'm pretty sure emails to that account are not bouncing. Could you please unlock my account so that I can access my sync account through THAT email, which actually accepts emails as I've tested many times? (For example, this mozilla account is linked to the same email address, for which I received a confirmation email from Mozilla itself a few minutes ago)

Chosen solution

For reference, the issue here was that an old email account was no longer accessible, nor was the device.

Please take note that Sync is not a back up service, so once you change the password, all data local to the computer is what is available.

I called for more help.

Never post any personal information because an adware robot could find it, and start sending you all kinds of spam. This includes e-mail, phone, and home information.

Please remove that information from your post.

Thank you for the reply.

The ban might have been lifted off; for some trials, I had got the response "Your email was just returned. Mistyped email?". But right now, I can see that my account has been locked again.

It would be nice to give people access to their data; permanently locking the account owners out to "protect" them is not a very wise move.

Hi parisamenos,

My name is Rachel and I work at Mozilla with the support team, can you please send me a private message with the email address you used to create a sync account?

I will be opening a bugzilla bug on your behalf at bugzilla.mozilla.org, I will be sharing the information with two sync engineers to take a look into it. Please create an account with a reliable email address and we can continue this conversation in a private message.

Thank you, and I look forward to helping.

I have to set the expectations, in the meantime please make a back up of the local profile Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles once you change the password, all previously synced data is lost.

Unfortunately, in my case there is no "old email account" and I was having this issue with my current email account.

The error message changed in the meantime, but I'm still facing a red box popping up with "Unexpected error" when trying to Sign in to Firefox Sync. :-(

@FredMcD I think I can't do that, I'm just some guy who also had this problem and is still having problems (though the problem mutated), and the solution describes a scenario that doesn't fit my case. But I only see "Report Abuse" links to the right of each post.

I sent you a private message.
