while we are waiting for 57, LastPass is shown as "Legacy" - is it still safe to use or should I find an alternative now? I could change to Firefox Sync I guess, but probably best to wait for 57? I don't know. Advice welcome. Thanks

Chosen solution

If it does the function, it should be relatively safe. However, I wouldn't use it, as I am paranoid about my security. The point is, that all of the legacy plugins have to be either killed or rewritten if you want security. There are some Legacy workarounds that you can use, but I would strongly suggest not updating to 55 or use workarounds for LastPass to make it fully functional. If I am correct, legacy plugins will have issues one way or another.

Legacy just means that in a future version, those add-oms will not work in Firefox. They will need to be rewritten or replaced.

Go to Last Pass website and update your FF add-on. Mine isn't saying legacy but three other add-ons are. I updated it recently.

My LastPass add-on version is 4.2.1.2.1 Check yours and see.
