I tried to set up the gmail account with Thunderbird again and got this message:

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger/content/accountcreation/verifyConfig.js :: verifyConfig :: line 60" data: no]

Can you get the remote gmail server to connect on any other machine or in 'safe-mode'?

Not exactly sure what you are asking. Sorry. I can access my gmail account without a problem at gmail.com, just having problems with Thunderbird. Is there something you can suggest I try?

I also have this problem! I can't send emails out from Thunderbird, either. I can get into my AOL account on AOL page, but not through Thunderbird anymore. (I was among the folk who "migrated" from verizon.net and were taken in by AOL.)

Did something change in Thunderbird in the last couple of days?
