Started having bad hangup issues after latest update, none of the suggestions in your "help community" are of any use. I've emptied my cache, defragged my hard drive, etc. I can hardly type 3 letters before it hangs up, and I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!! Your "help community" is most UNhelpful, and should be scrapped. Some REAL support is needed! I'm at my wit's end with this BS, and am ready to dump Mozilla if this is not resolved to my satisfaction. I want DIRECT CONTACT with a REAL person to fix this INEXCUSABLE problem. If that's too much for you, let me know. I'm through wasting my time on Mozilla's incompetence!

Did you already updated to the current Firefox release (56.0.2)?

My browser is current, but obviously the updates are the problem, as the problems didn't start until after the recent updates.

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla before posting a question. This helps us help you. As I have no info from your system that would help see things that cause issues.

It could be any number of things that can cause this issue and we have no info from you to try and trouble shoot with buckshot then.

See if Multi-Processor Support is turned on. Multi-processor support feature may be disabled depending on your setup (it was for me) - you can check this by launching Firefox, then enter in "about:support" in the address bar; near the bottom, you should see a heading that says: "Multiprocess Windows", then look at the value next to it. If it says "0/1", then that means it's disabled If 0/2 or higher it is turned on, come back for instructions to turn it off.

Mozilla experiment, called 'Shield Studies'. Without even knowing it, you may have volunteered for this Mozilla experiment. Would you go to : Options => Privacy & Security => under 'Data Collection and Use' : Did you uncheck : 'Allow Firefox to install and run studies ' or is it checked  ?

To check if you are enrolled in these studies :

Type in the address bar about:studies

Any extensions that you see listed there, you can either disable or remove, just like this Safe Browsing version 4 (at the end of the experiment they will be disabled anyway).

See for further information : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/shield

Hundreds more to go.......

Please check what I have given you.

You say your "browser is current" but it shows up as 56.0 here.

Note : Firefox 56.0.2 is current release https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ Full Version Installer Note : Firefox 57 Quantum release date Nov 14th https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
