I have reinstalled the video download helper, and it worked for 5 minutes, then the ball symbol went black and white and whatever I have tried since then hasn't worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have rebooted, and finally torn my hair out in frustration. It used to work just fine - this "upgrade" has gone downhill.

I don't have the time to become a web developer - I just want the productivity I had with the earlier version of Firefox and its video downloader add-on. How do I restore that functionality with the "new" Firepox?

It got some functionality back, but numerous sites from which I used to download without problems apparently are not being detected by the download helper. I finally found a level of workround - I download to an Android phone and upload from the phone to my computer. It is a waste of time and limited bandwidth, but it is infinitely less annoying than Firepox.

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.
