Question was asked earlier and Phillip responded asking for a screen shot with my German login on screen in Google. I think I have what he needs but cannot get back to the previous page for response. I will try to leave it here and hope for the best. Butch

I believe you are correct. I have never had this happen before. I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded again with the VPN discontinued. Loaded and it ran just fine. I have always loaded a last update when starting a new Hard Drive out. Then Firefox would tell me about updates. This is with the VPN working. It would update and reboot and all was fine. Not this time. I will be more cautious from now on. Thank you and you can mark this case as closed. You and your friends did a marvelous job. I thank you Butch

thank you, it looks like google is assuming you're accessing it from switzerland and therefore offering you the german version of the site. is your vpn software tunnelling your traffic through switzerland perhaps?
