Once I give the send command I lose the Tbird Menu bar and need to force quit

When I try to 'write' a new email, a stripped-down full screen msg window opens and the original Thunderbird menu disappears. When I go back to the original Tbird window, there's no drop down menu. My only choice is to force quit from the Apple menu bar

In Windows you press the Alt key to make a hidden Menu Bar appear then from the Menu Bar you select View-Toolbars and turn the missing Toolbars back on. Unfortunately no MAC user has ever stepped up and said what the MAC equivalent is to display hidden menu bars. I guess you will have to find that out for yourself in an Apple forum.
