I want to continue using old version, but disabling auto-update isn't effective.

I prefer to use Firefox, but must use an older version (56.0.2) in order use an essential toolbar which more recent versions do not support. Although I have installed the old version and turned off auto-update, but Firefox continues to update--ignoring my settings. Any idea why it continues to update?

Just pointing out it is not recommend to use an old version of Firefox, as this puts you at major security risks and also doesn't protect you.
