How can I prevent email deletions in Thunderbird from affecting also deleting the emails on my I-Phone?

I've recently had to reinstall my existing Thunderbird account on new computer. Now, whenever I delete an email on the computer, it is also deleted from the emails on my I-Phone. There are times when I want to keep the email on my phone for future reference. This did not happen with the old computer. What can I do to keep the deletion from syncing with and deleting emails on all of my devices?

This is exactly how IMAP email works. Maybe you had the account on Thunderbird set to POP with the Leave Messages on the Server set before.

You might want to learn the difference between IMAP and POP.
