Whenever Thunderbird synchs with Google Calendar, I receive the message in the attached image. I've removed both the "Lightning" and "Provider for Google Calendar" add ons, reinstalled them, and again the popup comes up. The task for Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 3:30 pm has been long deleted off both the online Google Calendar and within Thunderbird.

Clicking "Delete anyway" removes the popup until the next synch. Clicking "Discard changes and reload" just reloads the popup over and over.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any help.

Chosen solution

Open the Calendar tab in Thunderbird, so that you do see the list of your calendar(s) in the left pane. Right-click the troubled Google Calendar - Unsubscribe Calendar

You can try to unsubscribe from your Google Calendar in Lightning. Then restart Thunderbird, and re-create the Google Calendar.

Thanks. How would I unsubscribe from Google Calendar in Lightning?

This issue is still here today and I'm using mail.com (not Google) as the remote back-end calendar repository.

It's about reminders....see below.

I've updated this bug/issue elsewhere, then thought it best handled @mozilla.

Mine is a Caldav connection using location https://calendar.mail.com/begenda/dav/uusseerr@mail.com/calendar/

I recently decided to get off Outlook2013 and actually use the Thunderbird I'd installed years ago. Oh and I've just registered with mail.com for free (and non-big 3) Calendar and e-mail....I can recommend it so far.

So I got this error. TB was 45.8.0 but just now updated itself to 52.9.1 ....so just checking that the error transcends that. ....no, still there...it's a persistent bugger.

OK I tried some basic stuff and it's better now for me. Kinda Fix or work-around (of sorts) ...you decide.

Not the remedy... I switched off "show reminders" in the calendar properties....shut down TB, restarted and no reminders or "The item has recently been changed on the server" window appeared. switched on "show reminders" problem reappeared. So as I said previously. It's about reminders.

Remedy.... Copied the working CalDAV URL into clipboard, Unsubscribed the calendar. Shutdown TB. Made a coffee. Restarted TB resubscribed with clip-boarded calDAV location. Shutdown TB. Restarted TB...3 reminders appeared. Hit dismiss all ....and yeyh pop-up disappeared.

BUT...next reload of TB and the "The item has recently been changed on the server." window returned... "Submit my changes anyway" button continually failed to prevent it reappearing.

"Discard my changes and reload" button disappeared it...!!!!!

+++++++++++I'm Happy with that+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

but I will play some more to see if I can find more on the "This item has been changed on the server" pop-up---------------------

Hope this has been useful.....the point of my update is.......

....it's not Google even if we want it to be.

PS Ctrl shift j Error log appears vastly different and more sophisticated after this TB update. But my 3rdline support days finished 18 years ago and I've no interest in relearning all this stuff...happy to capture a log though if it might help and people think I still have enough of the issues left.
