Fox News Channel player does not work on Firefox 60
I have repeatedly asked this question from Firefox version 53 through Firefox version 60, and have not received help from this forum. Why will FNC embedded video player not work on FF. Error 2 is always displayed.
Chosen solution
Pkshadow, I followed your first link above and Refreshed Firefox which process apparently creates a new profile. Unfortunately, when the "Refresh" finished, Firefox automatically updated to Version 61. I say unfortunately because I now have no way of knowing whether it was the refresh that fixed Video Error: 2, or if is was fixed by version 61.

I asked for assistance not a recap of my previous unanswered requests for assistance. Has any other forum participant besides FredMcD had success overcoming the "error 2" message and viewing video on Fox News Channel. I am reluctant to completely give up FF for Edge and IE both of which now do stream FNC.
Hi, loyall!
What i hear is that it doesn't work on Firefox Quantum. What you can do is to downgrade even though Mozilla Support says it doesn't solve most problems. But is does! Go to https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ for an older version.
Has any forum user been able to stream FNC on FF60? If not, then I would think that Mozilla would be anxious to fix this bug. After all these years as a FF user, I am reluctant to give up on FF in favor of Edge.
Please explain what you are trying to watch and what the URL is you trying to watch from please ?

No problem here : http://video.foxnews.com/v/5797971924001/?#sp=watch-live
So to be clear Pkshadow, using FF 60 you are able to stream FNC (also referred to as Fox News Go) using the website player without receiving the message: "Sorry, something went wrong. Please refresh your browser. If problems persist, please seek help here. " Error:2

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems:
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data
"Clear the Cache":
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
Hi cor-el. Thanks for assisting me. You should know that I am able to access FNC live video using both Edge 42 and IE 11, but I have not been able to access FNC since FF version 52. At your suggestion, here is what I have done:
- I refreshed the webpage by pressing "Ctrl + F5". I still received Error: 2 message.
- I switched to default appearance via Tools->Add-ons-> Themes. I still received Error: 2 message.
- I removed the Fox related cookies (about 10) using Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data. After restarting FF, I still received Error: 2 message.
- I cleared cache using Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear. After restarting, I still received Error: 2 message.
- I restarted FF in Safe Mode. I still received Error: 2 message.
Do you have any ideas what I might try next? I hate to give up on Firefox.
Modified
Hi, no did not use the Go as am in Canada and can not sign up for testing. Just the URL that I stated which had live content.
There is a Clean install by deleting all Firefox folders but your Profile and installing with a full version installer. But if doing that might be a idea to try the 52,8.1esr version instead. You pick and will help....
The other thing is this which is the Shield Icon : One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tracking-protection
Trying to help you, do not give up so easy.
