Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:
In Firefox 54 and below:
- Click the menu button and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
- Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
- Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.
In Firefox 55 and above:
- Click the menu button and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
- Select the General panel.
- Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
- Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

If the problem is resolved, you should check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in these Knowledge base articles:
Thank you.

Yeah, last I checked, I can't watch YouTube at 720p or higher without a lot of the CPU being driven hard. I've since made recent changes to hopefully help, like unchecking the 'Hardware' box. That reduced my hard drive crunching along with adding USB 'Ready Boost' drive. Also, I have '2' for the 'Content Process Limit' for my 'Duo Processors'. Later I may try the '4' setting again.
So, I'll have to try running YouTube at 720p and 1080p to see if my recent changes helps. I have 8GB of computer memory. It's an old desktop from Nov 2010.
These changes have helped me run 'Quantum' better than what I was fighting with before. I should just update my computer by replacing the Mommy Board, Video Card, and the Power Supply. One day I hope.
