It could be security software pulling those files. Does it show a path statement ?

I am still have this problem. A scan reveals no virus or malware. when I open the trash there are 50 files that read "Recovered Files - Documents Being Saved By Firefox. When I open that it reads "Org. Flowplayer.XXX

Upon booting or restarting the mac mini, why are 100s of "Recovered files" being "saved" in the Trash? Each of the folder's name is "(A Document Being Saved By FirefoxCP 687)" The numbers change. When I open them, the folders each contain "settings.sxx" inside. I don't wish to pull one out of the trash and click on it! I don't know if it is related, but this started happening after a recent automatic Firefox update. Why is this happening; what's going on, and how can I stop it. Thanks.

We seem to have the same problem except I'm using an iMac desktop computer. I removed Firefox and reinstalled and still the same problem. Mozilla doesn't seem to have an answer yet.

I have the same problem also on an iMac. It started after the v62.0 install. My machine shuts down after a backup every night. The ditched files appear after system power on the next morning and starting FF. I have ~75 trashed files every day.

It seems to be an Apple related problem. I have Firefox on my PC and I'm not experiencing any similar difficulties. I hope Mozilla has a quick fix because it's getting very annoying.

Does your Trash bin indicate where the files/folders were removed from to see whether it matches up with a temporary folder (either system temp folder or Firefox temp folder such as cache)?

Do you use any downloader add-ons for video or general files that could possibly be involved?

No solution here only guess work. It's on Mozilla to come up with a solution.

The recovered files are temporary files used by macOS apps. Usually temporary files are deleted by an app when it no longer needs them. If an app quits unexpectedly, it may not be able to delete the temporary files before it quits. When you restart your Mac, macOS moves these temporary files to the Trash.

Is it possible your Firefox is not cleaning up completely between the time you Quit Firefox and then shut down your system? Have you gotten any shutdown crash dialogs (Mozilla Crash Reporter)?

No indication to the first and no downloaders/add-ons to the second. In my case this nonsense only started after the v62 FF update.

Anythings possible, of course. All apps are closed by me prior to the backup running and that takes 20 min or more to complete so would think that's more than enough time to clean up. Closing procedures have been the same for years with no changes at all made - one night it all worked and the next, after 62, it didn't.

Web searches tend to associate settings.sxx files with the Flash plugin. But that would be a heck of a lot of Flash activity for one session. Do you use the default setting of "Ask to Activate" to require sites to have individual permission to use the plugin? See: Why do I have to click to activate plugins?

Not going to use Firefox until the problem is solved.

Small correction. The files get added to the trash on system power up in the morning, not on starting FF as I had mentioned. Sorry 'bout that. Found 192+ in there immediately after starting the iMac today. Flash was updated a few days ago (and is now causing a different problem on my website) but the problem started after v62 and not in line with the Flash update.

Problem still there. I created a bugzilla account see if that can help
