I used the TAG entries in my bookmarks to store various important site information, and after one of my recent upgrades, I went to one of my bookmark properties to review the data and discovered it was no longer there. I checked several other bookmarks for their tag information ALL of them had vanished! How can I get these entries back? I do not like the new formation for tag entries, since they are now showing up as selectable items in all of my tags. ARGH!!

Chosen solution

NEVERMIND - I exported to HTML (after thinking about the design of the new tags and hoping it was only a display issue) - and sure enough, the data is still there, just not displayed in the new tags.

A KB article with more information explaining this info would be helpful, as would bringing back the old tabs display (as separate and distinct entries) and usage to backup and restore as a JSON file.

Hi, please Export them as HTML and they will be there when you take the file and drop it into any open browser.

Firefox Release Notes ver 62 from : Help --> About --> What's New Removed the description field for bookmarks. Users who have stored descriptions using the field may wish to export these descriptions as html or json files, as they will be removed in a future release.

SO they are gone unless backup to HTML. You will no longer be able to use that as it will be removed.

How can I export them when they're ALREADY missing (sure, I can do that with the two I recreated)? I would have needed to known to do the export/backup prior to my browser upgrading automatically. I had over 100 distinct and valuable entries - and now the old ones are all gone.

Are you telling me the tag data is still there if I export, even though it's not being displayed in the browser tags?

Oh, and I don't have a smart phone to sync the data that's been erased.

Hi, Yes. Please Export as asked as I have already said that they will be there when you do and they are not gone (yet).
