It seems that Firefox updated itself to version 62.0.3, so that when I started it up this morning it gave some error messages, asked if I wanted to start in safe mode or just refresh the browser. I clicked what sounded like the safer option, which was to refresh, and now all my settings have now been lost. I also have a folder on my desktop called Old Firefox Data.

It subsequently seems that when it said 'refresh' it actually should have said 'RESET!!!' with a warning that it would wipe all my settings (rather than just refresh the screen as was implied).

Anyway, how do I go about getting my 'Old Data' back into my now fully refreshed Firefox?

Refreshing Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !

Refreshing Firefox -- easily fix most problems

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs. Everything else, like user settings and add-ons, are removed.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?
