Chosen solution

Clearly something has gone wrong with install. re: the same message comes up when i try to uninstall T bird.

I'm assuming you are using a Windows OS as you have not mentioned what you are using. Thunderbird would have installed here: If 64 bit computer:

  • C:\Program Files (86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\

If 32 bit computer:

  • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\

Locate and delete the 'Mozilla Thunderbird' folder. Then empty the Recycling bin.

Download and install a fresh version from this link, choosing the preferred language and correct OS for your computer. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/

using Kaspersky? There is someone else on this forum with the same general installer issue and it appears to be related to kaspersky forcing updates.

On second question it should read error message pops up to turn on cookies on your browser not off.cookies are turned on except third party cookies

Cookies in Thunderbird. Due to being forced to use oauth for some mail providers for authentication, cookies in Thunderbird have to be turned on. oAuth authentication is a browser security that certain providers are forcing into mail clients.

Setting is in options > privacy
