I am not in private browsing but firefox will not save the checkbox "save logins and passwords." I have to open settings everytime I sign on

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

If you have the "Trend Micro Password Manager" installed then try to uninstall this application via the Windows Control Panel.
