on linux ff setting

about:config

browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll

   to true

also copies URL from url bar with a single click of url bar however on osx it correctly highlights url yet fails to perform this copy of url into clipboard

With above setting on current ubuntu with current firefox a single click on url bar highlights then copies url into clipboard which is excellent - please fix osx ff to also share this behavior

Chosen solution

It is Linux-only.

A request to add it to Mac was filed in the bug tracking system a long time ago -- in 2007 (Bug 392161) -- so I don't think you should expect this to come any time soon.

Could you live with this workaround for now:

  • Click the ••• button in the address bar to drop the Page Actions menu
  • Right-click the command for Copy Link and choose Add to Address Bar

Now you have a one-click button to copy the URL, near the URL itself. That's the closest I can get you.

There is a clipboard.autocopy pref that is set to true on Linux by default, but only a middle-click with the mouse scroll wheel works for me to paste selected text from the clipboard (middlemouse.paste = true). Paste via the keyboard can still paste text that was previously placed on the clipboard via Copy.

My goal is to click on url bar and have it auto copy url into clipboard ... on osx after setting pref clipboard.autocopy to true the url no longer gets highlighted and no copy into clipboard happens
