How can I get my bookmarks back after I reset my password?

more options

I had to reset my computer and re downloaded Firefox. When it asked for my password I couldn't remember it so I reset it. I did not see a warning anywhere that said it would delete my backup info. I really need my bookmarks and saved usernames/passwords. Is there any way I can get this back?

Also is there any way I can contact Mozilla directly?? I could not find a phone# or other contact for their support besides this community question.

Did your Windows reset create a folder named

C:\Windows.old

That is a temporary folder retained for 28 days which contains a lot of your old data.

If you find that folder, let's go looking for your bookmarks.

For Firefox, you'll need to turn on viewing of hidden files and folders. See:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files

Then you can explore up the path:

C:\Windows.old\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Anything there?

Each profile has a partially random name -- like a12ve45z.default -- and inside should be a folder named bookmarkbackups containing files with the creation date coded into the name.

Can you find any recent backups? If so, the next step is to discuss how best to restore them to your currently running Firefox.
