Good Afternoon

I am trying to import emails from Outlook 2010 Version 14.0.4 into Thunderbird version 60.4.0

I am using Windows 7 64bit PC

The import progressed fine into Thunderbird but all the imported emails are corrupted as frequently interspersed in the body text of the emails is a repeated " &nbsp" hundreds of times.

The subject headers and to / from emails are all fine - just the body / content of the emails

I can confirm the emails are fine in their originating Outlook folders and also that Thunderbird has, of course, been working flawlessly as ever.

I would be very grateful for any assistance that could be proffered to help me successfully import the Outlook emails without errors

Thank you very much Emma

Chosen solution

When you started the import from Tools/Import..., did you select 'Import Everything' or just 'Mail'? I don't know if it's the source of your problem, but 'Import Everything' is known to not work.

Also, another route to importing Outlook on Windows is to use MailStore Home as an intermediary between Outlook and TB (import to MSH, export to mbox, import to TB).

This forum seems to have deleted the text above I put in quotation marks.

To clarify the body text is repeatedly interspersed with the Ampersand symbol followed by letters nbsp , hundreds of times

Thank you VERY much sfhowes.

When I did the original import I did choose just mail, but still had the error. I tried again with everything and you were indeed correct, it crashes!

So i downloaded MailStore home. Exported from Outlook 2010 and imported to Thunderbird 60.4 and it worked PERFECTLY.

I did not need to do the intermediary step of mbox just straight import and export via MailStore home.

Thank you very much. I hope this helps other users in future Emma

I'm glad it worked, having never tried it myself. In case you're trying to transfer the contacts from Outlook, one way is to save them as vCards (.vcf files) from Outlook, then import them to TB using the MoreFunctionsForAddressBook add-on.

That's great thank you I was not importing contacts but that is a great tool to know about and I will definitely keep that information for future reference. Maybe this will help others too Best wishes
